International Credit Mobility and SNMCI

Saint Nicholas Montessori College Ireland (1)This year, as part of the Erasmus Plus programme, International Credit Mobility has been available to Higher Education Institutions in Ireland. This action extends mobility for students and staff beyond Europe and, as such, it is one of the most exciting developments since the inauguration of the Erasmus Plus programme.

To mark this inaugural action, certificates were presented to the 12 successful applicants at a  ceremony in Iveagh House on the 14th January 2016. In attendance were Damian English T.D., Minister for Skills, Research and Innovation and Tom Boland, HEA Chief Executive. Our photo shows Michael O’Connor receiving the certificate on behalf of SNMCI from Minister English.

As one of what Tom Boland referred to as the 12 apostles, SNMCI will be developing links with Gordon College in Haifa, Israel. In September 2016, two SNMCI students will travel to Israel and we will welcome two students from Gordon College to study with us in Dun Laoghaire.

Our “ordinary” Erasmus Plus programme is unaffected by all this. This month we are sending 4 students to Belgium and 1 to Denmark and so far this year, we have welcomed 4 students from Hildesheim, Germany, and two from Rotterdam in the Netherlands.
