Further Study

The College’s programmes lead to awards on Ireland’s National Framework of Qualifications (NFQ) and provide learners with a range of access, transfer and progression paths in line with national norms.

Higher Certificate in Arts in Montessori Education (level 6) Graduates

Graduates emerging from the Higher Certificate in Arts in Montessori Education may progress directly on to stage 3 of the College’s BA in Montessori Education or other cognate Early Childhood programmes.

BA in Montessori Education (level 7) Graduates

The BA in Montessori Education is a recognised terminal qualification at level 7 on the NFQ.  Graduates on the programme may choose to pursue employment within the Montessori and Early Childhood Education Sector.

Progression to the BA (Hons) in Montessori Education (level 8)
Students who successfully complete the level 7 programme and achieve minimum Merit 2  can progress directly to the College’s level 8 honours degree programme in Montessori Education. 

BA (Hons) in Montessori Education (level 8) Graduates

The BA (Hons) in Montessori Education is a recognised terminal qualification at level 8 on the NFQ.  Graduates on the programme may choose to take up employment in the fields of Montessori, Special Education and Early Childhood Education.

In line with QQI policy, graduates from the level 8 degree programme may transfer or progress to further related study, either at level 8 or 9.  Such courses include:

  • Higher Diploma in Arts in Primary Education (Hibernia College)
  • Master of Education (NUIM)
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Applied Behaviour Analysis (TCD)
  • Master of Education in Special Educational Needs M.Ed (SEN) (UCD)
  • Master of Education (UCD)

Entry requirements for the particular programmes can be obtained directly by contacting the institutions involved. In the case of entry to masters level programmes, a minimum of a 2:2 award on a level 8 programme is typically required. Numbers may also be restricted.

Higher Diploma in Arts in Early Childhood Montessori Education (level 8) Graduates

The Higher Diploma in Early Childhood Montessori Education is a recognised terminal qualification at level 8 on the NFQ. Graduates on the programme can take up employment directly in the fields of Montessori and Early Childhood Education.

In line with QQI policy, graduates from the level 8 degree programme may transfer or progress to further related study, either at level 8 or 9. Such courses include:
