Using the Library - Regulations

  • 1. Students can borrow three books at a time

  • 2. The loan period for most items is two weeks

  • 3. Books can be renewed (in person or over the phone) provided another user has not reserved them

  • 4. Overdue books will incur fines of 50 cent per day

Finding an Item

As the library is a small space it is quite easy to browse the shelves in order to find books in a specific subject area.  If you are looking for a specific book please consult the librarian who can look it up on the computerized catalogue for you.

Journals

The college subscribes to a number of journals. Journals are for consultation in the library only but articles can be photocopied as necessary. Photocopying cards are available at a cost of €2.

Library Opening Hours

The following opening hours will apply during term time.  Any changes will be posted on the library door.  Details of opening hours outside term time will be posted on the library notice board before holidays begin.

PLEASE NOTE: the library will close for lunch between 2:00p.m. and 2:30p.m.

Computer Facilities

The students of Saint Nicholas Montessori College have their own computer lab which is located in Mellifont. All Computers have Print and Broadband Internet Access.

Students are advised to familiarise themselves with the Acceptable Usage Policy for Computers.

Support Classes are arranged in the First Semester for students who would like to know how to use the computers and computer programmes.

CD-ROMS

The library has a small collection of CD-ROMs on various subjects available for student use.  CD-ROMs are for viewing on the library computers only.

ERIC

St. Nicholas Montessori College students can now search for full-text journal articles and other education related material on ERIC (Education Resources Information Center). This can be accessed both on and of campus. To do so you will need a username and password. Please ask the librarian for your username and password, and for more information.
