GENERAL AIMS OF THE PROGRAMME
1. To develop in the student an advanced and analytical knowledge of the Montessori Method of education and its application to a range of children’s ages and learning situations.
2. To introduce the student to a range of other teaching methodologies and approaches, including the state Primary School Curriculum and to critically compare them with Montessori theory and methodology.
3. To foster research in the disciplines of education and to encourage the investigation of the effectiveness of the Montessori Method in school systems at home and abroad.
4. To develop the skills of the student as a reflective practitioner in the context of a structured induction programme and mentored support in a work-based situation.
5. To appraise Montessori didactic materials and methods and to adapt and design materials and approaches suitable for the implementation of the Primary School Curriculum.
