Recognition of Prior Learning Procedures for certain applicants onto Level 7 Bachelor of Arts in Montessori Education

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL for Certain Applicants on the Level 7
Bachelor of Arts in Montessori Education

On 27th May 2014, Saint Nicholas Montessori College Ireland (SNMCI) announced that it was using its revised RPL policies to respond to the needs of those seeking to upgrade their qualifications in line with the recently announcements from the Department of Children and Youth Affairs. A copy of this is here.

In early June, a series of Open Evenings were held in Dublin, Cork and Limerick to explain the process, as well as providing further clarifications to potential applicants. These were followed up by further sessions in Cork (23rd June) and Dublin (25th June) which focused on the completion of the portfolio.

Based on the level of responses to the Open Evenings, SNMCI is confident that it establish a viable class in Dublin, while subject to enrolment, it is also likely that a class will be established in Cork. Due to a small number of applications, there will be no dedicated provision of this programme in Limerick. Given that class contact is delivered over on Friday evenings and Saturdays, we would encourage potential applications from this region to pursue the programme at our Cork premises.

Applications are now invited for this programme. These must be submitted using the attached format:

  1. Application Form (duly signed)
  2. Template Document to list RPL Evidence;
  3. Template Document to demonstrate Experiential Learning

This documentation must be submitted in a Lever Arch/ Ring Binder and be accompanied by a cover application letter and cheque for €500
(made payable to Saint Nicholas Montessori College Ireland).

All material should be sent to:

Ms Mary Scaggs,
Admissions Co-ordinator,
Saint Nicholas Montessori College Ireland,
16 Adelaide Street,
Dún Laoghaire.

The deadline for the submission of your application is 1730hrs on 4th July 2014.

A short presentation on the assembly of RPL evidence is available here, along with an example of a completed narrative for demonstrating the achievement of Module Learning Outcomes through experiential learning.

We look forward to the receipt of your application.
